Vid Filosofiska institutionen bedrivs forskning och utbildning i tre ämnen:
Kognitionsvetenskap, praktisk filosofi och teoretisk filosofi. Avdelningarna är till stor del självständiga med avseende på forsknings- och utbildningsinriktning men det finns också täta samarbeten mellan dem. En gemensam ambition för samtliga forskare vid institutionen är att bidra till forskningsutvecklingen genom publikationer i refereegranskade internationella tidskrifter och böcker vid internationella förlag, samt genom att samarbeta med forskare vid andra institutioner och lärosäten i Sverige och
andra länder.

Praktisk filosofi kan definieras som studiet av filosofiska grundvalar för "praktiskt tänkande", med speciell tonvikt lagd på värderingar, livshållningar och handlingsnormer.

Lunds praktiska filosofer har under senare år fått externa medel till ett flertal
forskningsprojekt inom olika delar av ämnet. Projekten spänner över följande teman: filosofiska teorier om värde, teorier om skäl och normativitet, välfärdsbegreppet, kollektivt ansvar, genetik, etiska aspekter på databanker och dynamiskt beslutsfattande. Ser man mer generellt på forskningen inom ämnet vid institutionen är det fem områden som i nuläget drar till sig den största forskningsaktiviteten: moralfilosofi, axiologi (= värdeteori), politisk
filosofi, beslutsteori och social ontologi. Forskningen är starkt internationellt orienterad och enskilda forskningsinsatser har tilldragit sig internationell uppmärksamhet.

Anställningen omfattar i huvudsak forskning och avser arbete på heltid. Forskaren förväntas också under anställningstiden planera och undervisa på en veckas intensivkurs (inom ett av forskaren valt område) för doktorander inom det nationella nätverket för kursgivning i filosofiämnena.

Som en del av forskningsskyldigheten ska innehavaren delta i och bidra till
forskningsmiljön inom praktisk filosofi, bl. a. genom att aktivt delta i de
forskningsseminarier och andra forskningsrelaterade aktiviteter som pågår inom ämnet.

Innehavaren förväntas bedriva sin forskning i huvudsak på arbetsplatsen i Lund. Anställningen som postdoktorsforskare utlyses för disputerade forskare.
Som grund för bedömning av den sökandes meriter kommer att ligga dels tidigare forskning med anknytning till forskningsinriktningen, dels en projektbeskrivning av forskning som är tänkt att utföras inom anställningen (max tre sidor). Vid bedömningen kommer särskild vikt att fästas vid vetenskaplig skicklighet.

Behörig att söka är den som avlagt doktorsexamen högst tre år före ansökningstidens utgång och som inte tidigare haft anställning som forskarassistent/postdoktorsforskare. Om examen har avlagts tidigare ska intyg om föräldraledighet, sjukdom el dyl. insändas i samband med ansökan.
Ansökan ska innehålla följande i två exemplar:
- Undertecknat fullständigt curriculum vitae (CV) samt vidimerad kopia på doktorsexamen.
- Publikationsförteckning (inklusive ISBN- och ISSN-nummer)
- Undertecknad plan över forskningsprojekt som sökanden önskar arbeta med under tiden som postdoktorsforskare om högst tre sidor (exklusive litteraturlistor).

CRB söker en doktorand i bioetik

Vi utlyser en doktorandtjänst i projektet "Factors associated with participation in phase 1 and phase 3 oncology trials". Sista ansökningsdag: 18 juni.

Centrum för forsknings- & bioetik (CRB) är ett universitetsgemensamt forsknings- och utbildningscentrum med samarbeten över flera ämnes- och metodområden. Centret är knutet till Institutionen för folkhälso- och vårdvetenskap. I samverkan med ämnet vårdvetenskap och Institutionen för onkologi, radiologi och klinisk immunologi har vi sökt och fått anslag från Cancerfonden för ett projekt där vi ska undersöka patienters uppfattningar om och attityder till att medverka i kliniska prövningar av läkemedel.

Doktoranden skall arbeta i projektet "Factors associated with participation in phase 1 and phase 3 oncology trials". Projektet involverar kvalitativ metod-- intervjuer med svårt cancersjuka patienter som tillfrågats om deltagande i fas 1 studier -- och kvantitativ metod -- enkät till patienter som tillfrågas om deltagande i fas 3 studier -- samt etisk analys.

The department of philosophy within the faculty specializes in philosophy of technology. It also participates, together with the philosophy departments of TU Delft and TU Eindhoven, in the 3TU. Centre of Excellence for Ethics and Technology.

For the department of philosophy we are looking for:

Assistant professor in philosophy of technology full-time (38 hr/wk) with an emphasis on IT and a specialization in ethics or philosophy of mind and cognition

Tasks:
You teach within the two-year master program Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society (PSTS) and do service teaching for at least two of the following four programs: psychology, computer science, communication science and electrical engineering, plus possible additional service teaching. Within the PSTS program you are involved in master thesis supervision in the area of philosophy and ethics of IT, philosophy of AI and philosophy of mind and cognition in relation to technology. You also teach and are involved in supervision within the PhD programs in Ethics and Technology and Human-Centered Interaction Technologies. You also participate within the research program Interpretive and Normative Investigations of Technology and Technological Culture of the department of philosophy that was recently rated as excellent by an international committee. This program will be updated in 2011. Within the program you do research directed at ethical and cognitive-philosophical aspects of information and communication technology. You also actively apply for external research funding. Your research will also be embedded in the multidisciplinary Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT) of the University of Twente. The ethical component of your research will be embedded in the 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology (www.ethicsandtechnology.eu).

Profile:
You have a PhD with a specialization in either ethics or philosophy of mind and cognition, and are competent in both areas. You have a demonstrable interest in (information) technology and have engaged in research and/or teaching in which information technology plays an important role. You have outstanding achievements in research, including refereed publications and relevant international experience. You also have extensive experience in teaching, preferably in programs in philosophy, behavioural science, computer science or engineering, and you have good didactic skills. You are prepared to move to the region, and you are prepared to eventually learn the Dutch language.

Offer:
You receive a temporary appointment as assistant professor for the duration of two years. A continuation of your contract after this period is a possibility. The University of Twente has a tenure track policy, and very well-qualified candidates will be appointed on a tenure track position. Your salary will be up to a maximum of 4.970,00 gross per month, depending on experience, plus vacation benefits and end-of-year bonus.

Tampereen yliopiston henkilöstöjohtosäännön mukaisesti jokaiselta Tampereen yliopiston tehtävään valittavalta edellytetään sellaista koulutusta, kokemusta ja muiden kuin kotimaisten kielten taitoa, jota kyseisen tehtävän menestyksellinen hoitaminen vaatii, sekä tehtävän edellyttämiä yhteistyö- ja vuorovaikutustaitoja. Yliopistonlehtorilla on muiden opettajien tapaan oikeus ja velvollisuus osallistua laitoksen ja yliopiston hallintoon ja suunnittelutehtäviin. Yliopistonlehtorin tehtävänä on harjoittaa tutkimusta, antaa tieteellistä opetusta, osallistua jatkokoulutuksen järjestämiseen sekä osallistua laitoksen opetuksen ja muun toiminnan kehittämiseen.

Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti tehtävän vaativuuden ja henkilökohtaisen työssä suoriutumisen perusteella. Tehtäväkohtainen palkanosa määräytyy opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön vaativuustasokartan tason 6-7 mukaan. Tehtäväkohtaisen palkanosan maksamisen lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa.

The Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas invites applicants for a three year post doc position in evidence and neuroscience. The aim of the project is to map forms of knowledge in relation to the new brain sciences and to understand how they are translated across and outside of the scientific realm. This will allow to place current developments in the neuro – and cognitive sciences in a broader context of medical philosophy, sociology and/or anthropology. In the assessment of applicants for the position, emphasis is placed on research qualifications in anthropology, sociology and/or philosophy concerning implications of and evidence in the new neurosciences. The position is funded by the MINDLab initiative at University of Aarhus. It is expected that the person appointed will engage actively in the research environment at the Department (including the research centre Health, Humanity and Culture) and at MindLab.

Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas is one of seven departments at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Aarhus. It offers BA and MA programmes in philosophy and in the history of ideas. In addition, the department is among the largest suppliers in the humanities of supplementary courses, Master’s courses and of Continuing Education. The total number of students at the department is 750. The productive research and teaching environment at the department consists of thirty tenured researchers, a dozen Postdoc/assistant professors and project employed researchers, twenty research students and a secretary staff of seven. MINDLab is a multi-disciplinary research initiative under the Danish UNIK program, see details at www.mindlab.au.dk.
